Nanotech+Art by: Arianne De Leon This week we learned about all things nanotechnology such as the history, science, technology, and the impact it has had on the world. Nanotechnology describes "processes such as thin film deposition and ion beam milling exhibiting characteristic control on the order of a nanometer" (Gimzewski, Part 1). We can relate nano to an atom. How does nanotechnology influence your life? This made me think about how nanotechnologies affect my everyday life in the food that I eat or the cosmetics that I use. For example nanomaterials can be found in sunscreens and cosmetics(Gimzewski, Part 6). Nanotechnologies are used in cosmetics primarily to enhance product performance, texture, and appearance. Nano-sized particles can improve the efficacy of sunscreens by providing better UV protection and transparency on the skin.
